Young Robins ease to FA Youth Cup win, but Matlock and Buxton lose out
Ilkeston Town's academy side cruised to victory in the FA Youth Cup first qualifying round, overcoming hosts Deeping Rangers 4-2 on Thursday night.
The Robins dominated early on and took the lead on 18 minutes when Calrick Dunkley found space on the edge of the Rangers box, took a touch and rifled his shot into the top corner of the net.
The lead was then doubled just before half-time when Kashe Hall fed Tom York and he was able to fire home.
It was then 3-0 eight minutes into the second-half when Kaaron Brown netted from the penalty spot, before another spot kick seven minutes later was both won and converted by Hall to make it 4-0.
Deeping pulled a goal back just three minutes later and added another three minutes from time, but Ilkeston had done the necessary damage and were comfortable victors.
Matlock Town, however, fell at the first hurdle as they lost 7-1 at Kirby Muxloe and Buxton were beaten 3-0 by City of Liverpool.
