Wirksworth defeat sends Mickleover back to the top

A round-up of the weekend's action in the Derbyshire Ladies League:

Despite not playing yesterday, Mickleover moved back to the top of Division One on goal difference as a result of Wirksworth’s defeat at home to SK Vipers.

Third-placed Pride Park joined Mickleover and Wirksworth on ten points after a resounding 7-1 win against Ilkeston Town Development, with Summer Evans scoring five goals.

Draycott are fourth after winning at home to Belper Town. A Teigan Frost hat-trick helped AFC Mercia come back from 2-0 down, to win 4-2 against Chesterfield Development.

The format for Division Two was described as three groups of four in last week’s round up, but these are only for the purposes of fixture scheduling. Each team plays the others in the group twice, and play the teams in the other groups once (one group at home, and the other away), totalling 14 games. The teams are, however, combined in a single league table - the top four by points gained will then play off to determine the rankings for promotion.

The League is taking shape with the top four of Sandiacre, Matlock, Chesterfield Inspire Blues and Woodlands Reserves starting to establish a gap over the chasing bunch, headed by Hilton Harriers.

Sandiacre Town remain top after scoring four without reply against University of Derby.  Matlock Town remain second, level on points and with a game in hand, thanks to a narrow win at Sleetmoor United.

Chesterfield Inspire Blues are third, a point behind the leaders, after recording their third consecutive clean sheet, whilst scoring four against Shirebrook Rangers. In fourth are Woodlands Reserves who didn’t play yesterday.

Hilton Harriers remain just in touch with the leading group after a home win against Belper Town Development. A hat-trick for J. Marriott helped Stanton Ilkeston return from Vipers with three points.
