REPORT/REACTION: Denton's the hero again as Spireites win at Yeovil
Tom Denton's sixth goal of the season earned Chesterfield a 1-0 win at Yeovil Town on Saturday.
Denton has begun the season in fine form and his strike with 21 minutes left gave Spireites another win following their FA Cup victory at Stockport the previous week.
Chances were few in the first-half, Matty Warburton heading wide for the hosts on 17 minutes and Alex Kiwomya shooting straight at Yeovil keeper Adam Smith five minutes before the break in what were the two most serious openings.
Spireites should have taken the lead on 53 minutes when Adam Smith this time saved superbly from Jonathan Smith.
But the goal finally came on 69 minutes as sub Luke Rawson, only on the pitch for a minute, fed Denton who took control and finished well into the roof of the net.
Yeovil piled the pressure on in search of a leveller, Albio Skendi heading onto the roof of the net, then Laurence Maguire nearly settled the game late on but headed wide following a free-kick.
However, the points were safe soon afterwards as the final whistle blew for what was a second league win of the campaign.
Chesterfield: Letheren, Kiwomya, Sharman, Evans, Maguire, Buchanan (Tyler Denton 80), Butterfield, Weston, Smith (Mandeville 75), Tyson (Rawson 68), Tom Denton.
Unused substitutes: Wharton, Hollis.
