Report, reaction and highlights as Chesterfield lose out

Chesterfield couldn't build on Scott Boden's first-half opener as Maidenhead United fought back to take all three points at the Technique Stadium on Saturday.

After Ryan Upward had gone close early on for the visitors, Laurence Maguire then struck a post for Chesterfield following a long throw from Jordan Cropper.

Boden struck on the half-hour mark, latching on to Kyle Letheren's long clearance and volleying the ball into the net in style.

Manny Parry nearly levelled for United just before the break as he headed a corner just wide, but Chesterfield led going into the break.

Boden saw an early effort cleared off the line in the second-half, while United's Nathan Blissett then forced Letheren into a save at the other end.

However, Maidenhead levelled on 55 minutes when Sam Barratt's cross floated all the way into the net.

After David Buchanan then saw a volley strike the woodwork for the hosts, United then went in front when Barratt got up to head home Josh Coley's corner for his second of the afternoon.

Cropper hit the side netting late on as Spireites sought a leveller, but it wasn't to be their day as they now prepare to head to Altrincham on Tuesday night.

Chesterfield: Letheren, Cropper, Sharman (Rawson 78), Evans, Maguire, Buchanan, Butterfield, Weston, Rowley (Kiwomya 89), Boden, Tom Denton.
