Replayed FA Cup tie sees Spireites dumped out by County
Chesterfield couldn't repeat their FA Cup success at Stockport County on Wednesday night as they lost their replayed fourth qualifying round tie 4-0.
Forced to play the game again due to an ineligible player in the original tie, this time Chesterfield were well beaten and it is County who will instead face Rochdale this weekend.
It took Stockport just three minutes to go in front as Richard Bennett volleyed home after Kyle Letheren saved John Rooney's shot.
Alex Reid then doubled the lead on 35 minutes, being sent clear by Bennett and finishing well.
It took until the 71st minute for Stockport to round the game off, a handball by Tom Denton conceding a penalty which Rooney netted.
Rooney then blasted home the fourth late on, again from the spot after a foul by Will Evans on Reid, and the win was secured.
Spireites: Letheren, Buchanan, Evans, Maguire, Weston, Kiwomya (Boden 45), Butterfield, Tyson, Sharman, Tom Denton (Tyler Denton 80), Rawson
