Pinxton ease to victory as football returns to CML
Derbyshire's Central Midlands League clubs returned to action on Saturday, although many remained without games due to COVID-19-related restrictions.
In the Premier South, Pinxton kept up their momentum by beating Mickleover Reserves 3-0 at Wharf Road, Tom Lewis scoring twice and Ash Dhindsa also finding the net.
Meanwhile, Rowsley 86 had a 4-1 home win against Hilton Harriers to get their season back on track. Andrew Roome scored twice, Noah Evans and Toby McClean also on target, Hilton’s goal coming from Jack Gill.
In Division One North, the local derby in the Peak District between Cromford & Wirksworth Town and Wirksworth Ivanhoe got off to an explosive start, Ivanhoe going 3-1 up with just nine minutes on the clock.
The scores were level by half time before Ivanhoe hit the winner in the 71st minute. Scorers for Cromford were Steve Mallinder, Ryan Smith and Lewis Land with Tom Mellor (2), Jack Higton and Ryan Marchington netting for the visitors.
One match in Division One South saw Ripley Town and Heanor Town share four goals. Alex Lynam put Heanor ahead from the penalty spot on 22 minutes, Micky Dunne equalising just three minutes later. Jack Brown gave Ripley the lead with 32 minutes played, but Lynam levelled the scores in the 38th minute. Both sides hit the woodwork in the second half in what was an entertaining match.
