Long Eaton sign versatile Marshall from Ilkeston

Defender Tom Marshall has left Ilkeston Town to sign for Long Eaton United.

Marshall, who can also play in midfield, was a member of the first Ilkeston Town squad when the club reformed in 2017, alongside brother Alex who is also now at Long Eaton.

But having struggled to hold down a first-team place at the New Manor Ground this campaign, he will now link up with several other former Ilkeston faces at Grange Park.

United boss Ian Deakin said: "We are delighted to welcome Tom Marshall to Long Eaton United.

"He adds considerable strength to an already strong squad and is a talented player who will fit straight in with the team.

"Tom is exactly the type of player we want to attract to the club, and I am looking forward to working with him once again."

Ilkeston boss Martin Carruthers was full of praise for the departing Marshall.

He said: "Tom was a valuable member of the squad and great character. Tom has been a great servant for the club and we wish him the best of luck in the future."
