FA Cup round-up: Glossop through, United force replay

There were mixed fortunes for Derbyshire's clubs in the FA Cup extra-preliminary round on Saturday.

Glossop North End are assured a passage through as they scored a late winner against Emley thanks to Scott Higham whose header from a corner set up a clash at Sheffield FC on August 20.

Long Eaton United will get another go at beating Sherwood Colliery after the sides drew 2-2 in Nottinghamshire on Saturday.

Rod Orlando-Young struck twice for United, his second coming just three minutes from time to ensure a replay on Tuesday night which will determine who will face either Maltby Main or Quorn - who must also replay - in the next round.

Gresley Rovers' hopes of a cup run ended at the first hurdle as they lost 2-1 at Atherstone Town, Michael Williams' equaliser midway through the second-half unable to inspire a winner as the hosts instead won the game late on.

It was a disappointing afternoon too for Heanor Town, who despite having started very well in the UCL Premier North were beaten heavily at home by Studley in the FA Cup, Ethan Wiesztort's late consolation the only highlight in a 5-1 defeat that also saw the Lions' Max Thornberry sent off just before half-time.

Belper United will host Lichfield City on Sunday in the remaining tie.
