Draycott go further clear at the top of the table

Derbyshire Girls and Ladies League Round-up:


In Division One, second-placed Mickleover were without a game and Draycott made the most of the opportunity to extend their lead at the top. Another clean sheet and goals from Hill, O’Connor, Turgoose and Ferris brought a win at Belper Town.


SK Vipers hosted Wirksworth and the visitors returned home empty handed as goals from Hill and Stimson gave the hosts the points, although Vipers remain third.


Chesterfield continued their improved form with a resounding win at home against Mercia. A brace each for Corfield and Marsden and a goal for Caunt, without reply from Belper, sealed the win.


Pride Park bounced back from a heavy defeat in midweek to return from Ilkeston Town Development with a win, with a brace for Laight and one for Ely; Kitching scoring for Ilkeston. Click HERE for a full report.


In Division Two, Chesterfield Inspire Blues hit nine past Vipers to maintain their push for the title, and Woodlands Reserves scored seven against Stanton Ilkeston to end their hopes of a top two finish in their first season at open age. The win lifts Woodlands into third, and keeps their hopes of a top two finish alive.

Sandiacre Town’s win against Shirebrook Rangers consolidates them in second, three points behind leaders Chesterfield Inspire Blues, and two points ahead of Woodlands in third, each of the top three having one game left to play.


University of Derby beat Castle Donington in the only other game played.


In the final round of matches featuring the top three, all to be played next weekend, Chesterfield Inspire Blues (1st) face Shirebrook Rangers (11th), Sandiacre (2nd) play Vipers (8th) and Woodlands (3rd) face University of Derby (6th).
