Buxton go third with win over Rangers
Buxton will go into lockdown third in the NPL Premier Division table following a 3-1 win at home to Stafford Rangers on Tuesday night.
The Bucks began the stronger side but it was Rangers who went close 20 minutes in as Callum Coyle went through on goal but hit the crossbar.
However, Buxton went in front six minutes before half-time as Tom Elliott fired home to give them the advantage at the break.
The lead was then doubled on the hour mark as Diego de Girolamo made it 2-0, however the same player then saw a penalty saved 11 minutes later as his strike was stopped by keeper Lewis King.
Reece Styche settled the points with a long range effort on 77 minutes, and despite Mitch Candlin reducing the arrears with four minutes left, Buxton held on.
