Alfreton FA Cup tie is cancelled after positive Covid test
Alfreton Town's FA Cup third qualifying round tie at FC United of Manchester on Tuesday night has been cancelled.
The Derbyshire club have released a statement confirming a positive Covid-19 test within their ranks, meaning the match will not go ahead.
The statement read: "Alfreton Town can confirm that we have received a positive test for Covid-19 and in the interest of safety for all concerned, tonight's Emirates FA Cup tie at FC United has been cancelled.
"Following protocols and medical advice, safety comes first and the club's priority is to keep everyone safe during these unprecedented times.
"We will be fully supporting the individual involved and we wish them a speedy recovery."
The cancellation means, due to FA rules, Alfreton Town now have to forfeit the tie and FC United will progress to the fourth qualifying round.
